Vidi Aquam is Latin for "I saw water," referencing Ezekiel 47:1–2 and John 19:34, symbolizing the life-giving water flowing from the side of Christ.
Traditionally sung during the Asperges rite at the beginning of Sunday Masses in the Easter season (from Easter Sunday until Pentecost). It replaces the usual chant "Asperges me", which is used outside of Eastertide.
